Cody Rhodes (WWE Champion) And Solo Sikoa Segment: We started SmackDown this week with Cody Rhodes making his grand entrance to the ring. Rhodes cut right to the chase, and called out Solo Sikoa to the ring. Rhodes said that he can almost admire how Sikoa is going about his business, taking anyone out in order to bring the WWE Championship to the Bloodline. Rhodes then talked about how he has been through hell and back to capture the WWE title, and will not lose the most prized possession in all of sports entertainment. Rhodes then said that he beat one Tribal Chief in Roman Reigns, and he will have no problem defeating another Tribal Chief in Solo Sikoa Sikoa was sick of Rhodes’ soliloquy, and said that he does not have time to sit here all night. Sikoa said that Rhodes beat a weak Tribal Chief at Wrestlemania 40 in Roman Reigns, and Sikoa will be as strong as ever at SummerSlam. Sikoa then challenged Rhodes to up the anti, and make their match for the WWE title a Bloodline Rules match. This is when Tama Tonga, Jacob Fatu, and Tonga Loa made their way through the crowd to the ring. Rhodes accepted Sikoa’s challenge, and proceeded to call Sikoa essentially a bootleg wanna be Tribal Chief. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis made the Bloodline Rules official later in the night.
Carmelo Hayes Versus Andrade: This was the second match between these two, and this match was somehow better then the first good match they had a few weeks ago. This was a back and forth battle, with both Hayes and Andrade countering some of the moves they had been hit with in the first match, showing that these two learned from their mistakes. Hayes worked over Andrade for a bit, but Andrade was able to mount comeback after comeback, only to be shut down however by Hayes. Despite Carmelo Hayes making an effort to use the tights during a pin in the closing seconds of a back and forth battle, Andrade had the foresight to reverse the roll-up with one of his own to once again defeat Hayes.
WINNER: ANDRADE
Santos Escobar Versus Apollo Crews: This match was ok, but relatively short. Escobar was beating down on Crews for a good while. When Angel and Berto grasped Baron Corbin’s feet beneath the ring and assaulted him on the outside, Escobar applied the distraction to defeat Apollo Crews with his Impact Driver finish to win the match.
WINNER: SANTOS ESCOBAR
Logan Paul (United States Champion) And LA Knight Segment: Logan Paul had his celebration where everyone tells him how great he is. Paul had a banner to unravel, but the photo had a large YEAH word font all over it. LA Knight then came out and told Paul that in 24 hours, that US title will be his. Knight then went backstage and stole Paul’s Prime truck, leaving Paul in disbelief.
Alba Fyre And Isla Dawn (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions) Versus Bianca Belair And Jade Cargill For The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: A lot of people including myself thought Belair and Cargill were winning these tag titles, but they did not. This was a solid match where Belair took some of the beatdown and so did Cargill, but both women fought back valiantly and were looking as if they were going to win, when Blair Davenport appeared and caused a disqualification. Davenport, Fyre, and Dawn took out both Belair and Cargill and left them laying.
WINNERS: NO CONTEST
Tiffany Stratton (Miss MITB) And Nia Jax (QOTR) Segment: Nia Jax gifted Tiffany Stratton a new custom MITB briefcase, to which Stratton was elated. Jax told Stratton that if she decides to cash in tomorrow night at SummerSlam, they won’t be friends anymore. Chelsea Green came into frame and her and Stratton had a verbal exchange.
Johnny Gargano And Tommaso Ciampa (WWE Tag Team Champions) Versus Jacob Fatu And Tama Tonga For The WWE Tag Team Championships: This was a fun match just for the fact that there was next to no commercials throughout, which was a welcomed addition. Gargano and Ciampa were getting worked over for awhile, but they showed no signs of giving up without a fight. Since Solo Sikoa attacked Tommaso Ciampa when the referee was distracted with the Samoan Spike on the apron, Johnny Gargano responded as a man on an island all by himself, hitting anything that moves. Nevertheless, Jacob Fatu’s rage showed overbearing for Johnny Wrestling. Fatu no sold Gargano’s Frankensteiner, destroyed him with a multitude of moves that culminated in an Implant DDT, earning Jacob and Tama Tonga the WWE Tag Team Titles.
WINNERS: AND NEW WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, JACOB FATU AND TAMA TONGA
