Cody Rhodes (WWE Champion), Bloodline, And Kevin Owens Segment: SmackDown kicked off this week with Cody Rhodes making his way to the ring, having successfully defended his WWE Championship at SummerSlam against Solo Sikoa. Rhodes asked the audience what did they want to talk about? Rhodes then was about to announce the man he wanted to defend his WWE title against next, before Solo Sikoa and the Bloodline interrupted him. Sikoa said had it not been for Roman Reigns getting involved in the match at SummerSlam, he would be WWE Champion and not Rhodes. Sikoa then demanded a rematch from Rhodes, to which Rhodes unequivocally said no. Sikoa and the Bloodline were then about to swarm the ring and attack Rhodes, Kevin Owens appeared and backed up his good friend, forcing Sikoa and the Bloodline to back down. Rhodes then told Owens that he wanted to defend the WWE title against him, which Owens denied, saying he had not earned a shot at the title.
A-Town Down Under Versus Street Profits In A WWE Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders Tournament Match: This was the first of two tag team title qualifiers tonight. Dawkins was grounded for awhile, but was eventually able to mount a comeback and get the hot tag to Ford, who went crazy on Waller and Theory. Dawkins football tackled Waller into the timekeeper’s area, effectively knocking him out of the game. Ford and Dawkins followed by separating Theory, hitting a Super Blockbuster to prevail move on to the finals of the tag team title tournament.

Cody Rhodes (WWE Champion), Kevin Owens, And Nick Aldis (SmackDown GM) Segment: Aldis mentioned to Owens that Roman Reigns is next in line for a WWE title match, which made Owens livid. Owens talked about how many times Reigns was beat over the years for the title, only for Bloodline interference to keep his reign alive. Aldis heard the passion from Owens, and declared that at Bash In Berlin, it will Cody Rhodes Versus Kevin Owens For The WWE Championship.
Jade Cargill Versus Alba Fyre (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion): Cargill just destroyed Fyre for a solid three to four minutes, concluding the squash match with her Jaded finishing move. Not to mention all of the body slams, superkicks, and splashes delivered. Post match, Blair Davenport arrived on the scene and attacked Cargill and Bianca Belair with Fyre and Isla Dawn. Their effort at an all-out assault failed as Naomi showed up to assist Belair and Cargill in clashing with their opponents and running all three women out of the arena.

Giovanni Vinci Vignette: We had a Giovanni Vinci vignette this week on SmackDown.
Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, And Pretty Deadly Backstage Segment: We saw Tiffany Stratton planning out Nia Jax’s (WWE Women’s Champion) celebration party next week when she was bombarded by multiple different individuals.
LA Knight (United States Champion) Segment: We had the new U.S. champion LA Knight make his way to the ring with a new theme song, which was thankfully not made by def rebel. Knight talked about how the fans stuck with him through thick and thin, and now they can all celebrate together now that Knight has finally captured main roster gold. Santos Escobar then came out and taunted Knight, saying that he will be the next U.S. champion. In order for Escobar to get a shot at Knight however, he would have to defeat Andrade.
Andrade Versus Santos Escobar In A Number One Contender’s Match For The United States Championship: This was match of the night. Andrade and Escobar gave it all they had in this contest. Once Andrade was getting the upper hand on Escobar, Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews went to battle with Angel and Berto, who were plotting to help Escobar defeat Andrade through devious entails. Escobar delivered a spectacular poison rana that had Andrade in disarray, but Andrade responded with a moon sault, changing his trajectory mid-way through as Escobar shifted out of his path. Just as Andrade appeared to be on the verge of defeating Escobar, Carmelo Hayes arrived to annoy him, distracting Andrade on multiple occasions. The diversions and chaos enabled Escobar to fruit roll up Andrade gain the victory.

DIY Versus Pretty Deadly In A WWE Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders Tournament Match: This match was pretty quick, as it was here to bide some time until the Roman Reigns segment, still a decent match for six to seven minutes. DIY mounted a comeback and eventually won the match with their Meet In The Middle finish to advance in the tournament.
Roman Reigns And The Bloodline Segment: Solo Sikoa told the crowd to acknowledge him, and then called out Roman Reigns to the ring. Reigns responded, and proceeded to destroy both Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa before getting to Sikoa. As Reigns was preparing to Spear Sikoa, Loa pulled Sikoa to safety. Tonga attacked Reigns, who was distracted by the Ula Fala necklace, from behind along with Loa, and both gave Sikoa the necklace. After this, Reigns destroyed them again, beating Loa with multiple chair shots, and Spearing Tonga through the barricade.
