Wrestlers Of The Month – Leo’s Rope Breaks

It’s been a very busy month of wrestling. WWE, NXT, TNA and AEW pay per views/ premium live events. As well as great wrestling on weekly tv with big shocks as well.

So who got my wrestlers of the month for May? Let’s see

Honourable Mentions

Giulia

Samoa Joe

Damian Priest

10

Jacy Jayne

I mean it’s all about the moment isn’t it. Arguably one of the biggest shocks in WWE/NXT just after a different and bigger shock. She, of course, won the NXT Women’s Championship which is well deserved after being a long (very long) standing NXT superstar. The match was great but Vaquer doesn’t have bad matches. You could tell what this win meant to Jacy and yeah good on her and congratulations to her.

9

Trick Williams

From one shocking moment to another and I’d say the biggest shock since Cena turned heel. Trick defeated Joe Hendry to become the TNA World Champion. A history making moment having a WWE guy win not only a TNA championship but the TNA World Championship. Personally, I can’t see it lasting long. Also the match again was great Hendry and Trick have great chemistry together, went out there and killed it.

8

Jacob Fatu

After a very good April and winning the United States Championship, the guy with all gas and no brakes didn’t slow down, two decent tag team matches, teaming with Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo before and after Backlash. Then the four way against McIntyre, Priest and Knight from Backlash was one of the best matches on that show. He getting very over, very quickly and the continued teases of a split.

7

Mercedes Mone

A very up and down month for Mone but the down didn’t out weigh the up. A solid three way match in Japan at Resurgence but she did lose the New Japan Strong Women’s Championship but wasn’t pinned. She had a fine match defending the TBS title on Collision. Mone then had a brilliant match at Double or Nothing defeating Jamie Hayter to earn a shot at the Women’s World Championship at All In Texas, she beat the crap out of Hayter; the meteora to the floor was bad and then going for a roll up and planting Hayter straight on the top of her head looked awful.

6

Lyra Valkyria

A bit of a more relaxed schedule for Lyra this month but her win over Becky Lynch in what was the best match on Backlash is what puts her on this list. She also cost Becky a Money In The Bank qualifying match which i personally enjoyed because Roxanne was more deserving superstar to have in the ladder match. Lyra also cooked Becky on the mic again which i’m finding great.

5

Stephanie Vaquer

Another great month for La Primera not only giving Jacy Jayne a career match but also a decent tag match teaming with Jordynne Grace against Fatal Influence. Speaking of Grace, there match at Battleground was fantastic and one of the better matches on that show.

4

Will Ospreay

It’s difficult not to put Ospreay on this list espically after the classic against Hangman at Double or Nothing. He also had a good tag match with hangman against Takeshita and Alexander of The Don Callis Family but the main concentration is on the main event match of the year candidate at Double Or Nothing.

3

Jon Moxley

I know some people can’t stand Moxley at the moment and i can certainly understand why but this past month he’s had two quality matches. First the steel cage match retaining the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe, Joe took him to the limit and they went to war. Speaking of war, Anarchy In The Arena was so awesome, Moxley was at the forefront of the match and took a beating.

2

Toni Storm

Storm didn’t half been herself busy over the past month. She eliminated eliminators like: Lady Frost, Anna Jay, Penelope Ford and Thunder Rosa. She then had a good match defending the women’s world title against “close friend” Mina Shirakawa at Double Or Nothing. So it’s been a May of wins and good quality matches for the timeless one.

1

‘Hangman’ Adam Page

I mean very similar to Ospreay, Hangman tops this list due to emotional but quality promos opposite Ospreay, a decent tag match with Ospreay and then the absolute incredible match against Ospreay at Double Or Nothing winning a AEW World Championship Match at All In Texas where he genuinely could be the one to beat Moxley and get the title belt back.
