Wrestlers Of The Month: June

Hello Peoples that enjoy Pro-Wrestling

So June was very busy for WWE with 2 PLEs so there’s a heavy influence of WWE guys and gals on this list with some NJPW and AEW sprinkled in there as well.

As always tweet me @MrRetrospectGuy on X and let me know who you’d put on your list and if there’s someone i missed

So here are my Wrestlers Of The Month but let’s start with some honourable mentions

Honourable Mentions:

Naomi – Won the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Zack Sabre Jr – Regained the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

Swerve Strickland – Classic with Will Ospreay and decent multi man tags too

Will Ospreay – Classic with Swerve Strickland (lol) and decent tag matches and singles face off with Lio Rush

Solo Sikoa

Solo has really found his niche of the past few months. The betrayal by Jacob Fatu at Money In The Bank was done very well and the “I hate you Solo” made me pop but then to go to Night Of Champions and have, in my opinion, the best match on that show was awesome. It’s 100% Solo’s best match in his career so far and shows he can wrestle every so often (lol) and he’s won his first singles match on the main roster becoming the new United States Champion.

9

Boltin Oleg

Now I’m not going to lie to you i don’t know alot about Oleg but I’ve heard good things mainly through Jack the jobber of Cultahlic youtube channel. So the match at NJPW Dominion was my first time seeing him wrestle and against all people but Konosuke Takeshita arguably one of the best of this era of wrestling and the match didn’t disappoint, it was awesome. Just two guys beating eachother up and Oleg picked up his first singles championship in NJPW.

8

Seth Rollins

So Seth might be a controversial pick for 8 as he’s only wrestled once this month and that was of course his Money In The Bank Ladder Match victory but he did play a big part in CM Punk unsuccessfully challenging for the WWE Championship at Night Of Champions as well as cutting great promos building up his inevitable cash in and the ladder match was a pretty good one too so there’s that.

7

El Hijo Del Vikingo

Vikingo has had a big month as far as matches go with 2 AAA Mega Championship Matches. One defending the title against former champion Alberto Del Patron in a steel cage match. Also and in my opinion more importantly having a absolute classic and match of the year candidate with Chad Gable at Worlds Collide. Honestly I’m very surprised WWE haven’t had him show up again for them in a wrestling capacity since the show.

6

Je’ Von Evans

Evans continues to show on a fairly consistent basis that he is the new Mr.NXT just like Gargano, Zayn and Breakker of the past as he is a delight to watch in ring no matter who the opponent is and what style of match from multi man tag to singles to a fantastic fatal four way North American title match on Worlds Collide. He’s definitely one to look out for, for years to come.

5

Cody Rhodes

After his return at Saturday Night’s Main Event and then pinning Cena at Money In The Bank I was very surprised to see him put into the King Of The Ring tournament and though yes he was a very clear favourite he put on half decent matches with Jey Uso and Randy Orton as well as a seemingly dominant performance in the four way first round match to win the whole thing to become King Of The Ring and earn a WrestleMania rematch with the g.o.a.t John Cena at Summerslam.

4

Mercedes Mone

The CEO continues to collect championships even in the build up to a match where she can win another championship. Only Mercedes Mone could do that. Though I’ve found the build to All In Texas with Toni Storm to be quite entertaining but expect it to intensify the closer we get to the event. She also did other events outside of AEW which I did not see. I do fully expect her and Storm to have a fantastic match to make a place for her on this list next month.

3

Ethan Page

EGGOOOO. Page has had a busy time cutting great promos and brawling with Ricky Saints as well as making Evolve star Sean Legacy look good in defeat after challenging Page. However, the highlight for All Ego this month was the fantastic fatal four way match against Fenix, Laredo and Je’Von at Worlds Collide. He kept up very well with the high octane opponents even doing some lucha himself. Been a great month Ethan Page.

2

Becky Lynch

I’ll be honest I was skeptical of Lynch since her return and wondered if she could still go in ring as the tag match at WrestleMania was ok. But this month was a true return to form for The Man. A pretty solid match with Bayley on Raw retaining her title by DQ after Lyra Valkyria was made to look very silly. Speaking of Lyra, there match at Money In The Bank was great as well though not as good as the Backlash match and of course Lynch became the new and second ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion adding to her huge championship resume or CV.

1

Chad Gable

My opinion of Chad Gable changes from don’t care to this guy is bloody good isn’t he. Week after week after week. His character stuff has been brilliant this year so far and training closely with El Grande Americano is helping him become even better. He had a Raw match with AJ Styles was quality which makes sense with how great the two are in ring and then the outstanding match with El Hijo Del Vikingo at Worlds Collide overall it’s been a top month for Master Gable.
