WWE Smackdown Report For July 5th, 2024: WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Vows To End The Bloodline, #DIY Win The WWE Tag Team Championships, Solo Sikoa Warns Roman Reigns.

Men’s MITB Segment: This was your old school WWE segment, hyping up a multi man match with all of the participants saying why they are going to win. “Main Event” Jey Uso, who kicked of Raw earlier this week, kicked off Smackdown this week. Uso was reiterating why he was going to win MITB, until LA Knight came down to the ring. We had a Yeet Vs Yeah off, which was kind of funny. Carmelo Hayes then came out and said he will win MITB because he is the fastest rising star in WWE history. Chad Gable came out and said that if he can survive the WYATT SICKS attacks and Alpha Academy leaving him, then anything is possible for him. Andrade then came out and made his case for winning MITB. Drew McIntyre was the last man who came out, and chastised all of his opponents in the match, leading to an all out brawl between everybody.

Street Profits Versus Pretty Deadly: This match started off with some chain wrestling before breaking out into a mix of brawling and grappling, as well as a set of tag team moves from both teams. Montez Ford also showed off his athleticism in this match, which makes me wonder why he is not taken seriously as a singles competitor. The finish took place when Montez Ford jumped from the top rope with incredible height and splattered down on Kit Wilson for the victory.

WINNERS: STREET PROFITS

Bianca Belair And Jade Cargill Versus Candice Larae And Indi Hartwell: I think we have seen this match two or three times already, in which all matches are similar to one another. Hartwell spent a good portion of the match working over Cargill, until she got the hot tag to Belair who was on fire. Eventually, Jade Cargill struck Jaded on Candice LeRae to pick up the win, while Bianca Belair used the K.O.D. to defeat Indi Hartwell simultaneously. Following the match, the winning team made known that they intend to take back the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships from Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn.

WINNERS: BIANCA BELAIR AND JADE CARGILL

Cody Rhodes (WWE Champion), Randy Orton, And Kevin Owens Segment: Cody Rhodes kicked off the segment asking the crowd what did they want to talk about? Rhodes listed a number of things to talk about such as NXT Heatwave on Sunday and Sami Zayn’s comedy special that took place on Thursday, but the one thing that Rhodes has had to talk about and deal with for a couple of years the Bloodline. Rhodes said that at MITB, he will end this Bloodline feud once and for all. Randy Orton said that if he has it his way, the tag team match at MITB will end with an RKO. Kevin Owens then cut a passionate promo, informing everyone that his Mother has been sick the last three days. Owens also said that his Mother always fights through adversity, and at MITB, Owens will give the Bloodline the most vicious beating he has ever given them over the last four years.

Bayley (WWE Women’s Champion) Versus Piper Niven: This was a rematch from CATC. Niven worked over Bayley for a good while before Bayley mounted a comeback. All of the women that will be in the Women’s MITB ladder match were near ringside for this match. As an altercation broke out at ringside between Naomi, Lyra Valkyria, Zoey Stark, Iyo Sky, Tiffany Stratton, and Chelsea Green, Bayley defeated Niven in the ring with the Rose Plant. Nia Jax then appeared and almost took out Bayley, only for Michin to make the save and hit Jax with multiple kendo stick shots.

WINNER: BAYLEY (WWE WOMEN’S CHAMPION)

Austin Theory And Grayson Waller (WWE Tag Team Champions) Versus #DIY For The WWE Tag Team Championships: This was a fun match and a fun main event. I am not sure why this could not have been on MITB tomorrow, but I guess Triple H just loves his five matches for pay-per-view, so there’s that. In an intense hard fought battle for the WWE Tag Team Championships, Johnny Gargano utilized the Gargano Escape to Grayson Waller, while Tommaso Ciampa then locked Austin Theory in the Sicilian Stretch. Waller and Theory had no other choice then to submit, causing a title change. With an unbelievable victory, #DIY claimed the WWE Tag Team Championships in the very same building where they previously won the NXT Tag Team Titles together.

WINNERS: AND NEW WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, #DIY.

Bloodline Segment: Solo Sikoa talked about how Roman Reigns was not man enough and  failed the Bloodline at Wrestlemania 40 when he lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. Sikoa said that he did not want to be the Tribal Chief, but he has to be now since Reigns is a loser. Sikoa then told Cody Rhodes that soon enough, he will bring the WWE Championship back home to the Bloodline. Sikoa then closed the segment by saying that if Roman Reigns wants the WWE Championship back, he can try and take it from him.
